Every NFL team has players that need to make the leap. The Washington Redskins certainly have a few candidates that could make a big impact if they do improve.

Every year, NFL teams look for one big thing out of their young players. Progression. There’s nothing worse for teams than seeing a player’s career arc plateau or growth stagnate. For that reason, young players are often watched very closely as they attempt to improve from year to year.

Often times, players do make the proverbial leap. It’s not always who is expected to emerge, but the Redskins have seen some quality playmakers emerge out of the blue in recent years.

Matt Ioannidis went from being a practice squad player and back-end roster player to being the team’s top rotational pass rusher. And Morgan Moses struggled in his first season before improving gradually and becoming one of the best right tackles in the league. Those are just two solid examples among players who are still on the team.

The Redskins will be looking for a few players to dramatically improve to make the leap in 2019. Here’s a look at three of the most important ones who could be in for breakout campaigns.
