A new NFL season is on the horizon, but only a silhouette to the eye.

No one knows what the coming NFL season will look like. It lurks in the distance, and a shape can be seen against the blank canvas behind it, but from this far away, it is indistinguishable. A formless wonder, toying with a collective imagination.

It’s this unique distance of the NFL offseason that makes the NFL, and only the NFL, so unique. Experts can make their predictions, and spew their hot takes across the social network, but ultimately, the NFL season will gain form, and it will be what no one expected.

So our predictions are in vain. But that doesn’t stop us from trying to figure it all out anyway. Thus, it’s time to pass the time, and put together our way-too-early NFL power rankings for the 2019 season. Now that the smoke has cleared from April, who rests at the top of the NFL pantheon? Who has the most ground to make up? Turn the page, and see for yourself.
