The Redskins 2019 NFL Draft is in the books.

Now, it’s time to let the hype build irrationally until the entire city of D.C. expects a deep playoff run from the Washington Redskins in 2019.

I kid, kind of. The NFL Draft does have make an annual habit out of instilling newfound confidence into fan bases that were previously despondent. And if the Redskins intended to breathe new life into their fan base, they did just that with their 2019 draft class.

The excitement is palpable as expected day one starters like former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and former Mississippi State edge rusher Montez Sweat make their way to Redskins Park. Washington nailed the first round, but even beyond that, they attained great value, and put together a draft class that could help the team for years to come.

Of course, this kind of excitement can be dangerous if it’s not measured, explained, and countered, and so we fired up the Riggo’s Rag Podcast recently to meet up with Riggo’s Rag contrIbutor Conor Forrest, and effectively discuss some of the biggest takeaways from the Redskins 2019 NFL Draft. Who was the Redskins best pick? Which pick was the most confusing? How did the team fare overall, and how will it impact the coming regular season? We answer all those questions, and more, in our latest podcast. To listen, you can click the play button below!

The post-draft excitement surrounding Washington’s class comes with merit. From an evaluative standpoint, they added logical value at key points. But while the class may look like a lock on paper, there’s still work to be done before the Redskins can proclaim their 2019 NFL Draft a success. Results must be gleaned from the input on the field. But by earning solid marks for their haul this offseason, the Redskins are, at the very least, on the right track.
