Picks 9-16

9. Buffalo Bills: TE T.J. Hockenson, Iowa. It just makes too much sense to me. You drafted Josh Allen last year. You built him a new offensive line in free agency, then built him a new receiving core with John Brown and Cole Beasley. Now get him a high-upside safety blanket who’s a mauler in the running game. Get your own Gronk. Get T.J. Hockenson.

10. Denver Broncos: LB Devin Bush, Michigan. Jacob made this pick. I’m boring and agree with him.

11. Cincinnati Bengals: OT Cody Ford, Oklahoma. The Bengals have to know that re-signing Bobby Hart isn’t going to fix their offensive line. Right?

12. Green Bay Packers: DL Ed Oliver, Houston. The Packers spent a lot of money on their edge rusher group in free agency. Now, presented with the opportunity to complete their defensive line with a terror as an interior pass rusher, they can’t help but pick Ed Oliver. It’s just too much value to pass up.

13. Miami Dolphins: EDGE Brian Burns, Florida State. A top-three talent shouldn’t fall to the No. 13 pick, but Brian Burns might fall even farther, for whatever reason. Brian Flores is a smart, defensive mind, however, and he knows the kind of potential Burns will have at the NFL level.

14. Atlanta Falcons: DL Christian Wilkins, Clemson. The Falcons have been rumored to want to trade up, if Ed Oliver reaches a certain point. It just doesn’t fall through for them, however, and they settle for Clemson DL Christian Wilkins, a disruptive interior rusher in his own right.

15. New York Jets (via WAS): WR D.K. Metcalf, Ole Miss. At the Redskins former pick, what better way to accentuate the new ‘Take Flight’ motto than by adding a top-flight athlete for franchise quarterback Sam Darnold to throw to? The Jets have more needs, but after getting some picks in this trade back, they’ll have flexibility at No. 15.

16. Carolina Panthers: EDGE Montez Sweat, Mississippi State. The Panthers need a replacement on the edge after losing Julius Peppers to retirement. Montez Sweat should help them out with his burst, physicality, and length.
