2019 NFL Mock Draft 8.0: Redskins land top quarterback, Raiders make surprise pick
With most of the top players the Bengals would consider off the board, that opens the door for them to take a quarterback. Drew Lock is still available, and new head coach Zac Taylor may like him.
Often, new regimes mean new quarterbacks for NFL teams. While Taylor and his staff have expressed confidence in Andy Dalton, they may bring in his successor this offseason, especially since they can move on from him with no dead cap in the near future. Lock would represent hope for the Broncos, who have made the playoffs under Dalton but have never won a game.
At Missouri, Lock flashed an excellent arm and has a skill set reminiscent of Jay Cutler. However, Lock’s attitude is much better than Cutler’s, so he’s more likely to succeed. Lock has a lot of starting experience (four years of it at Missouri) so he could come in and fight for the starting job right away. He may need to clean up his mechanics a bit, but he has all the tools that a franchise quarterback needs.
Other Bengals Draft Options
LB Devin Bush, Michigan. The Bengals desperately need linebacker help. Bush is undersized, but he could help to upgrade their defense.
TE T.J. Hockenson, Iowa. The Bengals retained Tyler Eifert, but he can’t stay healthy. Hockenson would add another potent weapon to Zac Taylor’s offense.
