Redskins Mock Summary

The Redskins are able to use T.J. Hockenson’s slip to pick No. 15 to acquire two extra picks in the top 100, while only going back 17 spots in the first round. Though I think Hockenson could be a game changer, I also believe that other later-round players could have a similar effect.

The Redskins do need to add another Y-tight end to their roster. Right now, it is to easy to tell what they are going to do depending on the personnel on the field, but spending a first-round pick isn’t necessarily going to solve this problem either. It would just be the safest choice to solve that one roster problem. Players like Trevon Wesco will be available on the third day of the draft and could help the Redskins balance their offensive packages to make them less readable.

This year’s draft is very deep in the top half. The Redskins have a great base of players. Dropping back in the draft would allow them to fill even more holes with top-end talent. With prior injury problems, this strategy must seem very appealing to the front office. It would be nice for the team to not fall off a cliff in 2019 if it faces substantial injuries like last year.
