Redskins late-April three-round 2019 NFL mock draft, with a trade back
Pick No. 56 – Boston College OG Chris Lindstrom
Chris Lindstrom is widely considered one of the top guard prospects, but due to several tackles (that will convert to guard) coming of the board before him, he is still around at pick fifty-six.
Lindstrom is one of the most athletic lineman in this years draft. He would be a plug-and-play player at left guard for the Redskins. He would most likely still have a preseason battle with Ereck Flowers, but even if Flowers’ conversion to guard goes well, I think Lindstrom could have the lead on the starting position, and leave Flowers’ to the role of versatile backup.
Though Lindstrom may be considered more of a zone blocking prospect, and not the normal power scheme guy the Redskins have gone with in the recent past, I think he may be the perfect fit. Many of his shortcomings would be masked by playing left guard. His slightly smaller stature and ability to be pushed back in the pocket wouldn’t be as much of a problem for him because left guard receives the most double team help from the center.
Lindstrom’s speed and athleticism would allow the Redskins to have one heck of a zone/screen game from the left side with Lindstrom lining up beside Trent Williams. With their starters back and the addition of Lindstrom, the Redskins would have one of the better lines in the league this year; a fact many national news organizations have seemed to forget.
