The Redskins have been tied to plenty of quarterbacks this offseason. The latest rumors connect them to Dwayne Haskins and Josh Rosen.

The Washington Redskins are looking hard at potential quarterback replacements in the 2019 NFL Draft. This makes sense given the injury to Alex Smith, but it’s currently unclear as to where the team will select their quarterback.

According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, the Redskins may target one in the first round if they don’t trade for Josh Rosen.

In a conference call, Jeremiah spoke about what he thought the ‘Skins might do early. Indications are that they are targeting a quarterback, depending on what happens with Josh Rosen.

"We’re kind of in a holding pattern until the Cardinals figure out what they’re doing in the JoshRosen situation because I do think the Redskins make a lot of sense there. But let’s assume that doesn’t happen. I think they would go quarterback in the first round if that were the case, if they did not get Rosen I think it would be more than likely that’s where they go. They have done so much work on this group, and you hear all different guys tied to them. I mentioned a little earlier that Haskins is kind of the latest that I hear there."

Jeremiah would also go on to say that the Redskins “might be more offensive leaning” in this
year’s draft. So, perhaps the idea of the team going with an edge rusher in Round 1 isn’t as popular as some may think.

However, the bigger news here is that Dwayne Haskins may be the apple of the Redskins’ eye. Leading up to the draft, it was unclear whether the team wanted Haskins, Drew Lock, or Daniel Jones more. But according to Jeremiah, Haskins is the guy he’s hearing most about.

Haskins is a fan favorite and is a very solid prospect. He put up monster numbers at Ohio State and has an NFL caliber arm. He should be a solid pocket passer and will be able to succeed in the short to intermediate game. He still has some room for growth in his deep accuracy and overall ball placement, but he should find success at the NFL level.

Of course, it’s still unclear whether or not Haskins will be on the board. But, perhaps the Redskins will be willing to trade up for him if he falls outside of the top 10. It wouldn’t take a lot of capital to make a move like that, so perhaps they’ll be willing to move up for Haskins if they aren’t sold on a guy like Jones.

No matter what, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the ‘Skins are targeting quarterbacks early in this draft. And in the event that they can’t trade for Rosen, they well could spend a first-round pick at the position.
