The 2019 NFL schedule is almost here, and we have a reported leak. Apparently, the Washington Redskins are going to be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in the first week of the season.

Well, safe to say that the Washington Redskins are going to be tested off the bat to start the 2019 NFL season.

After opening last year on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, the Redskins are getting a much tougher matchup in the 2019 opener. They are scheduled to once again open the season on the road, but this time, they are facing the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer was the one that first broke the news.

The Eagles are, on paper, a much tougher opponent than the Cardinals. Carson Wentz should be fully healthy in Week 1 of the season, the ‘Skins will have to contain him in that contest.

The last three times that Wentz has played against the Redskins, he sports a 3-0 record and has completed 68 percent of his passes for 881 yards, eight touchdowns, and just three interceptions. The fully healthy Redskins defense should have a better chance of containing him in Week 1, but it’s notable that Wentz will also be fully healthy after dealing with an ACL injury and a back injury during last season.

This is also the second time in three years that the ‘Skins will open the season against the Eagles. The team met in the 2017 opener in Washington. The Redskins lost 30-17 to the eventually Super Bowl Champions.
