Picks 61-64

61. Kansas City Chiefs: DE Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech

The Chiefs are transitioning to a 4-3 defense and got rid of their best two pass rushers (Justin Houston and Dee Ford). They will need to replace those two. While Ferguson’s athletic testing was dreadful, he was a productive pass rusher in college. In his four years at Louisiana Tech, Ferguson posted 45 total sacks including 17.5 last year. He needs to continue working on his pass-rushing moves, but some team may like him enough to select him on Day 2. The Chiefs, being desperate for pass-rushing talent, would qualify as that team.

62. New Orleans Saints: CB Julian Love, Notre Dame

The Saints could stand to add some help in their cornerback group. Julian Love was a stead player at Notre Dame and has the skills need to be a very good slot corner and maybe even a No. 2 guy. Love would challenge P.J. Williams for the starting slot job, so he’s a nice pickup with the 62nd pick.

63. Kansas City Chiefs: S Taylor Rapp, Washington

The Chiefs need to add some extra depth at safety after cutting Eric Berry and trading Eric Murray. Rapp is an instinctive safety who does a little bit of everything. Like Ferguson, he’s not hyper-athletic, but he passes the eye test on tape. Rapp could go above some of the other safeties taken in this round, so he’s a nice pickup at this point.

64. New England Patriots: QB Ryan Finley, NC State

The Patriots are going to take a successor for Tom Brady at some point in this draft. Ryan Finley is the best quarterback left on the board here. While Finley lacks ideal arm strength for the NFL level, he has elite accuracy and a ton of starting experience. He could be similar to Alex Smith at the next level, so the Patriots may have interest in him. Bill Belichick could help to coach him up and make him into a solid starter. And at the least, he will be a great backup at the NFL level.
