32. . Quarterback. Oklahoma. Kyler Murray. 1. player

There’s no reason to expect that the Cardinals are going to be taking anyone but Kyler Murray with the first pick. Though they have tried to create some smoke, it seems highly likely that they will select the Oklahoma quarterback with the first pick.

Kliff Kingsbury was a big fan of Murray while he played at Oklahoma. And it’s easy to see why. Murray’s playing style is reminiscent of Russell Wilson. He’s incredibly small for a quarterback, but he has the arm talent, pocket presence, and athletic ability needed to succeed as a quarterback at the NFL level. He should be able to overcome the minor concerns about his height and put together a solid career.

Of course, it is notable that the Cardinals have Josh Rosen on their roster, and they traded up to select him in top-10 last season. However, they appear willing to move on from him and have engaged in trade talks for him.

Currently, Rosen is favored to go to the Washington Redskins, so this is surely something that will need to be watched moving forward. If a deal between the two sides does go down, it would likely be at some point in the next two weeks.

There is an outside chance that the Cardinals will consider adding Nick Bosa or Quinnen Williams with this pick. But, for the time being, Murray is still heavily favored to be the No. 1 pick. The Cardinals could also trade down, but that would only be if a team wanted to leapfrog the 49ers to get one of the top defensive prospects — or if a team like the Raiders wanted to get Murray for themselves. Both scenarios don’t seem entirely likely, but they remain possible.
