NFL Mock Draft 6.0: Dueling GM mock sees Redskins land EDGE help
Ian: After losing Kwon Alexander in free agency, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a looming void at the center of their defense. They need a starting inside linebacker, and while they have other needs as well, the value at this point might be too good for them to ignore.
LSU’s Devin White isn’t a perfect prospect at inside linebacker. He lacks polish in some areas, and some could argue that Michigan’s Devin Bush might be, at the very least, a comparable prospect, in regards to immediate impact.
But if White is to be the better ‘Devin’, it won’t be because of the separation he gets right away. It will be because of his upside. White is fairly new to the inside linebacker position, and he’s steadily grown over the course of his career. He possesses the range, strength, and athleticism to be a blue-chip player down the road, and that’s more than Alexander ever was with the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers could go in a multitude of directions at this pick, but with the confluence of need and talent in Devin White, Tampa Bay may have found themselves a near-perfect match.
