NFL Mock Draft 6.0: Dueling GM mock sees Redskins land EDGE help
Ian: The Seahawks have a certain type of defensive back, a type that they’ve catered to over the drafts of years past.
Their type is physical. Their type is alert. And their type is versatile. It’s no wonder that Florida’s Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is being tied to the Seahawks often. Because he’s a near exact match as their type of defensive back.
Gardner-Johnson improved markedly from his sophomore to junior season, developing his game as a tackler and as a field general of his unit. His athleticism, both laterally and vertically, is very solid, and his mental improvements suggest that he’s a prospect entering the league on an ascent that won’t stop soon.
The Seahawks, long removed from the days of the Legion of Boom, could use a tinge of physicality and versatility, and Gardner-Johnson provides more than a tinge of both.
