Ian: You knew this was coming.

Brian Burns is my No. 1 choice for the Washington Redskins at No. 15. It’s been that way since I watched his tape, and his weigh-in at the NFL Combine only solidified his status. The only real questions surrounding Burns, before the combine, pertained to his size, and even then, it didn’t cause a real issue on tape. Now that he’s 250, and can still move very well, he should be a top ten prospect, at the very least.

Despite his strong pre-Draft process, however, there still remains to be a consensus on where exactly Burns will go. Few mocks have him going in the top ten. Many have him dropping to the Redskins pick, and some even have him dropping outside the top twenty.

If you ask me, Burns is the third best prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft. His combination of length, burst, bend, flexibility, and nuance is very rare, and his upside as a pass rusher is tremendous. Despite his strengths, he could ultimately fall due to lingering concerns about his playing weight. If that happens, or if he gets buried in a top-heavy defensive class, then the Redskins will be very lucky, and very happy, beneficiaries.
