44. . Defensive Tackle. Clemson. Christian Wilkins. 14. player

Jacob: Christian Wilkins makes too much sense for the Falcons. They have had success taking players from Clemson and he would fill a need for the squad.

The Falcons need a long-term partner for Grady Jarrett. They let Dontari Poe walk ahead of last season, and they didn’t ever properly repalce him. Wilkins has enough talent to be taken this early, and he would be an ideal fit next to Jarrett.

In my most recent mock draft, I mocked Wilkins to the Falcons. Here’s what I said about him at that time.

"Enter Christian Wilkins. In a normal defensive line class, Wilkins would be a sure-fire top-10 pick. In fact, I even considered him for the Bills’ pick at No. 9. However, with so many quality defensive linemen on the board, Wilkins may make it to the teens. And if he does, Atlanta will be happy to snap him up. Wilkins was a great interior disruptor at Clemson. He constantly occupied blockers and opened up free rush opportunities for his teammates. He has excellent athletic abilities, a great first step, and he was solid at the NFL Combine. And his tape speaks for itself."

Wilkins would help to fill one of the biggest gaps on the Falcons’ team, and he’s the best value at this point anyway. If they want an offensive lineman, they could also opt to target Andre Dillard or Cody Ford.
