Ian: The Miami Dolphins are a hard team to gauge, heading into the 2019 NFL Draft. Some reports have suggested that they’re in full-blown tank mode in 2019, but that doesn’t seem like something new coach and Patriots product Brian Flores would be fond of doing.

That said, the Dolphins do have a ways to go before they can compete in the AFC East. Their roster was already thin before free agency, and in free agency, they lost starting right tackle Ja’Wuan James to the Denver Broncos.

Now, in the NFL Draft, the first thing the Dolphins can do, to give their rebuild a foundation, is solidify the foundation of their offensive unit, and draft local tackle prospect Jawaan Taylor with the No. 13 pick.

Taylor’s best traits are his length and his strong hands. He’s able to cultivate a strong anchor on every play, and while he isn’t overly nimble or precise, he can develop into a very solid starter at the next level.
