56. . Offensive Lineman. Alabama. Jonah Williams. 11. player

Ian: I hate to break it to the Bengals, but re-signing Bobby Hart in free agency isn’t going to fix the team’s offensive line.

With offensive coach Zac Taylor now in tow, the hope is that the Bengals offense will undergo some growth, and attain more consistency in 2019. But to do that, the Bengals must first solidify the facilitating unit of the offense: The line.

In free agency, the Bengals didn’t do enough to achieve that, so now, with their first-round pick, they’ll have to strongly consider adding a blocker up front, from the fairly solid stock of linemen in the 2019 class.

In this mock, Cincinnati takes Jonah Williams. The Bengals have too often been the victim of first-round busts in years past, and while few of the draft’s top linemen are particularly risky, Williams is the most reliable option the Bengals can find. His length isn’t great, but everything else is. His technical hand usage and footwork are excellent, and whether as a guard or a tackle, he’ll find a starting role to lock down in the NFL.
