Three-round Redskins 2019 mock; a quick fix for the offense
Round 2 – OL Dalton Risner – Kansas State
Dalton Risner is a technically sound lineman with a vicious mean streak and intelligence. He shows great discipline and hands.
His footwork could use a little work, but his footwork and athleticism are only in question at all because he played right tackle last year, and don’t worry; Offensive line coach Bill Callahan will take care of that with his conditioning program.
Risner reminds me a lot of Brandon Scherff coming out of college. Sure he isn’t the same caliber prospect, but he would be playing left guard, not right guard for the Redskins. Left guards are more likely to receiver double team help from the center, and are therefore considered a lower priority position.
Risner would step in and be one of the league’s top left guards from day one. He could be the Scherff of left guards for a second round pick, just to give you perspective.
