Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis are still on the Redskins’ roster. Each may have something left in the tank, but it’s feasible that one or both of them could be gone in the 2020 offseason. So, the Redskins should bring in another player to develop alongside Jeremy Sprinkle. And Foster Moreau would fit the bill.

Moreau was a quality blocker at LSU. Operating in a run-heavy offense, Moreau didn’t get a lot of chances to prove himself as a receiver, but in three seasons where he logged significant playing time, he had 52 catches, 629 yards, and six touchdowns. His blocking in his best trait, but he could become a good receiver, too.

Jon Ledyard of The Draft Network wrote about Moreau’s upside in a recent scouting report. Here’s what he said about Moreau.

More from Commanders Draft News

"Moreau was utilized heavily as a blocker during his time at LSU, showing excellent effort and physicality despite limited strength and inconsistent technique. He’s not good enough in that area to make it his calling card at the NFL level, but Moreau’s athleticism and strong hands suggest that there may be more production waiting for him as a receiver in the NFL. In order to make that potential a reality, Moreau will have to improve his routes, footwork and finishing ability in tough spots, but there are worse ways to spend a day three pick."

Late in the fifth round, Moreau seems like a solid pickup. He has his warts, but if he’s properly coached, he could become a top backup and a quality blocker as well. He can spend his rookie season developing and adding strength before eventually becoming a backup for the squad.

If the Redskins want to get a tight end but don’t spend an early pick on one, Moreau is the type of value pickup that they seem likely to target.
