NFL Free Agency: Do the Washington Redskins have a plan?

Free agency has been going on for a week. Washington has made some moves, but do they have a plan?
The first waves of free agency have rippled throughout the landscape of the NFL for the past week. So far, highlights for the Redskins include losing Jamison Crowder, Preston Smith, Ty Nsekhe and Maurice Harris. All of them are gone.
The ‘Skins inked free agent Landon Collins to a massive team-friendly contract. Well, that is, if there is such a thing. In this case, they did land a team-friendly deal, as Collins is a much needed defensive playmaker and leader.
Washington also agreed to terms with Adrian Peterson, an aging workhorse RB, a player with high marks in leadership. Without a doubt, additions in Leadership can’t be understated. Without leaders, you won’t succeed in any business. That includes professional football.

Trading for Case Keenum proves worthy, adding another starting quarterback option on the cheap. This is especially important as Alex Smith may never again darken the doors of Redskins Park as the team’s starter.
So, has this start been slightly encouraging? Not especially.
What’s the problem? Namely, From the outside looking in, there’s no plan!
The Redskins still have glaring holes at edge rusher, wide receiver, safety, and quarterback. They have questions at middle linebacker, cornerback, tight end, and offensive line. And, to top it off, their return teams are suspect.
This once proud fan base can’t bear much more mediocrity. Worse yet they feel like no one in Ashburn is listening. There’s a never-ending lack of cohesion from Dan Snyder down.
Well, with the most desirable name’s in free agency already signed, you’re on the clock, Bruce Allen. Do you think you can solve all the Redskins deficiencies in one draft? With 8-10 picks. Jay Gruden hopes so.
Good luck. And a little advice. Put your big boy pants on and your best foot forward. Choose the most talented player available with every pick in the draft, any path else would be absolutely reckless. Right?

So again, what do we know? Given the Redskins’ lack of resources, the dysfunction, seemingly, will continue. For most NFL cities this simply won’t cut it. You get what you give and unless the ‘Skins want to get a new fan base, they need to start giving their fans something to believe in.
