44. . Defensive Tackle. Clemson. Christian Wilkins. 14. player

Back to back Clemson defensive linemen come off the board and with good reason. They both have a lot of talent and the two teams picking both have needs on the defensive line.

The Falcons need another defensive tackle to add to their defense. They missed Dontari Poe last season after having him on a one-year deal in 2017. They have already franchised Grady Jarrett, another former Clemson defensive tackle, but they need a better running mate for him than Redskins-reject Terrell McClain.

Enter Christian Wilkins. In a normal defensive line class, Wilkins would be a sure-fire top-10 pick. In fact, I even considered him for the Bills’ pick at No. 9. However, with so many quality defensive linemen on the board, Wilkins may make it to the teens. And if he does, Atlanta will be happy to snap him up.

Wilkins was a great interior disruptor at Clemson. He constantly occupied blockers and opened up free rush opportunities for his teammates. He has excellent athletic abilities, a great first step, and he was solid at the NFL Combine. And his tape speaks for itself.

Wilkins and Jarrett would immediately create one of the league’s better interior duos, and they would also greatly help out Takk McKinley and Vic Beasley on the edge. So, grabbing Wilkins makes a lot of sense.
