The Washington Redskins need some help at the edge rusher position. Here’s a look at a few players to watch at the 2019 NFL Combine.

At this point in time, it’s unclear whether or not the Redskins are going to re-sign Preston Smith. The former second-round pick by the team looks likely to hit the free agent market, so it seems unlikely that the team will be willing to pony up and pay what some other teams might for the potential-packed pressure generator.

If Smith is gone, the biggest hole for the Redskins defense would immediately become the edge. Outside of Ryan Kerrigan and Smith, the team doesn’t have much (unless you count former second-round pick, Ryan Anderson). So, the team would likely look to address the position early in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Luckily, the draft is very good on the edge, and there will be a lot of quality players the ‘Skins can target. Most of their best options will come in the first round and considering that edge might be their biggest non-quarterback need and an edge could be the best player available at 15, they will almost certainly consider selecting one at that juncture.

With the 2019 NFL Combine coming up, the Redskins will certainly be watching the edge position closely. Here’s a look at three guys that they should keep a really close eye.
