. Edge Rusher. Kentucky. Josh Allen. 3. player. 30

The Jets definitely will need to add an edge rusher to their defense. For too long, they have struggled to generate solid exterior pressure, and while Jordan Jenkins has shown promise as a piece, they need a true No. 1 pass rusher to help out their squad. Josh Allen would certainly suffice.

Allen is coming off a monster year at Kentucky in which he totaled a whopping 17.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss. He was a big part of the upstart Wildcats’ strong season and he projects to be a solid edge player at the next level.

I had Allen mocked to the Jets as part of my first mock draft of the season. Here’s what I said about him at the time.

More from Commanders Draft News

"Allen is a do-it-all linebacker with scheme versatility between the 3-4 and 4-3. He can cover, he can rush the passer, he has length, and he has athleticism. With this well-rounded skill set, he is a perfect fit for the modern NFL, as he can pretty much be used anywhere in the linebacker corps and make an impact. With the Jets, Allen would be an immediate starter and would create a solid linebacker group for the team, featuring himself, Avery Williamson, and Darron Lee. He is just a perfect fit and is well worth the No. 3 overall pick."

Allen will almost certainly be a top-three pick and if Bosa goes first overall, there’s a chance that the 49ers take him with the second selection. But, for now, Allen seems to be the best fit with the Jets.
