Nick Bosa. 2. player. 42. . Defensive End. Ohio State

The 49ers will probably take whichever one of Bosa or Williams falls in their laps. In this case, Bosa is available, and the team would probably be ecstatic about that.

The 49ers could use some help on the edge. Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead have merely been mediocre options since being first-round picks and with Armstead set to be a free agent after the 2019 season, the team will soon need a replacement if they don’t retain him.

Bosa is a natural pass rusher who was tough to contain at Ohio State. In three games during his junior season before going down with an injury, Bosa had four sacks and was able to get into the backfield easily and consistently. This followed up his solid performance during his freshman and sophomore years, in which he combined for 13.5 sacks despite only being a part-time player his first season.

Bosa would give the 49ers a bona fide No. 1 edge rusher right away. That could help Armstead and Thomas settle into the complementary roles that they are better suited for. And, it would give excellent interior rusher DeForest Buckner a chance for opportunities as opposing offensive coordinators won’t be able to focus solely on his as the top pass rushing threat.

There’s no question that Bosa has talent, and it seems likely that he will be a top-two pick. His fit in San Francisco seems very good and perhaps better than his fit in Arizona would be. So, that makes this a realistic scenario and a potential win-win for both franchises.
