The Redskins don’t have a lot of financial flexibility when it comes to free agency, but with a few cuts, they can help themselves, and clear space for at least one big signing.

That said, big signings haven’t always helped the Washington Redskins. The team’s free agency woes have been well-documented under Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen. From Albert Haynesworth to Jeff George to Terrelle Pryor, the Redskins have displayed a tendency to fail in evaluating free agent options.

With just $17 million in cap space this year, Washington won’t be able to spend at will in 2019. But with a few cuts, they can make $17 million over $30 million. And then, they’d be able to take a risk, something they take pleasure in doing.

While every free agent signing is a risk, some players are more secure than others. For the Redskins, it could be a decent idea to look to the NFL’s current championship teams, in order to see how they might be able to instill a winning culture in 2019. Thus, here are some pending free agents to watch in the coming AFC and NFC championship games.
