Washington Redskins 2018 season offensive line grades

Trent Williams
As mere observers, we can be concerned about Trent Williams‘ future as a starter. He turns 31 years old this offseason, and he hasn’t played a full season since 2013.
But while things are changing to us, from the outside, Williams simply keeps churning. It’s the impact otherworldly athleticism, talent, and tenacity can have on a slowly, inevitably aging body. Williams might be getting older. But even at 30, he’s still a top-tier starter.
With a star-studded cast of Shawn Lauvao, Jonathan Cooper, Zac Kerin, and Kyle Fuller playing next to Williams at left guard this year, Williams didn’t suffer from the often underwhelming performance to his right. An offensive line is a unit, so one player won’t make it dominant. But Williams did his best in 2018, and the results were respectable, given the circumstances.
In thirteen games, Williams allowed three sacks, and was called for eight penalties. On Pro Football Focus, Williams was awarded a season grade of 73.4, which is categorized between “above-average” and “good”. Pro Football Focus is far from the gospel when it comes to offensive line grades, but in this case, it reinforces what we saw every week on the screen: Trent Williams is still good. And as long as he can still bend his knees, he’ll still be good for a long time.
