Morgan Moses
Morgan Moses will likely return as the Redskins starter at right tackle in 2019, which, in a sense, is good for him. He needs to bounce back, and he set a fairly low bar in 2018.
Moses wasn’t bad from a pure pass blocking, run blocking perspective. Throughout his career, he’s been purely competent as a blocker, which is enough to hold a starting job in a league where quality tackles are in short supply.
But Moses’ blocking ability wasn’t always enough to compensate for his penalties; he was thrown the yellow flag fourteen times in sixteen games. Seven of his penalties were for false starts, while six of the remaining seven were for holding.
Moses only allowed two sacks in 2018, but the positive impact he provided was sullied by his penalties, which proved to be a consistent detriment to an offense that could never afford any steps back. Penalties were essentially death knells to every Redskins drive this season, and for that, Moses will be held accountable. Improvement is needed for the 27-year old in 2019.
