Mack Wilson. 30. player. 51. . Linebacker. Alabama

The Rams have a fairly loaded roster overall, but it would be nice to see them add some depth on the offensive line or target a linebacker who can excel in coverage. Mack Wilson would provide the latter.

Wilson has had a solid season for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he has been particularly great in coverage. In the modern NFL, it’s critical to have linebackers that know how to cover the field in man and zone concepts. Wilson can do both and do them well. Thus, targeting him would be a smart move by the Rams.

Wilson would immediately become a big-time player for the Rams. He would be on the field in coverage situations while relegating either Mark Barron or, more likely, Cory Littleton, to a role as an early-downs run defender. Wilson has the potential makings for a three-down linebacker, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go earlier than this. The only real area for improvement he has is taking better angles when tackling.

If the Rams pass on Wilson here, they could consider taking some interior offensive line help, and both Chris Lindstrom and Garrett Bradberry would be solid options. Still, Wilson is far and away the best fit, provided that he makes it to this pick.
