Redskins: Prospects to watch in the College Football Playoff championship game
The College Football Playoff championship game is here. The Washington Redskins should be watching Alabama vs. Clemson very closely, as the game is loaded with excellent players.
For the past couple of years, the Washington Redskins have been big fans of the University of Alabama. The team has scooped up numerous former players from ‘Bama, adding Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne with consecutive first-round picks while scooping up other Alabama assets via trades and free agency. With the team’s season now over, they can focus on the 2019 offseason. And a big part of that will involve the College Football Playoff.
The championship game for the CFP takes place on Monday, and the Redskins will be interested in watching this contest. While their penchant for adding Alabama players has been notable, both sides of the ball in this contest have some excellent pro prospects. And, in fact, there could be a glut of Clemson and Alabama players selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. So, the ‘Skins have to be ready to jump on the best of the bunch.
For Alabama-Clemson, Washington needs to be watching a lot of key players, as they could realistically fill most of their needs by selecting players from these two squads. This game will give their scouting staff a chance to get in some in-game action ahead of the critical events like the East-West Shrine game and Senior Bowl.
Ahead of the game, we have a list of all the prospects that the Redskins should be keeping an eye on. And just a note, these are only prospects that could potentially fill a need for the squad. So, while Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis could be solid first-round picks, they probably aren’t options for Washington and thus, aren’t included among their team-specific prospects to watch.
Without further ado, let’s jump in.
