1. Redskins must open up more of the playbook for Josh Johnson

Josh Johnson played well in his second start against the Titans, doing what was needed to keep the team in a position to win for most of the game. He displayed his athletic ability by escaping the pocket on a couple of plays and also made a few nice runs.

Johnson has had another week to get comfortable within the system, and they should be looking to add more on to his plate for this week to see what he can and cannot handle. Look for the offense to utilize his speed this week and have a little more diversity within it as well.

Johnson only threw for 153 yards last week. While a lot of that was because Adrian Peterson was having a big game and he didn’t have to throw it much, he did take a couple of shots downfield. Johnson should be looking to take some opportunistic shots down the field this game against the Eagles’ banged-up secondary.

Depending on how Alex Smith recovers, this is the type of game that’s perfect to see just what Johnson can offer as the starting quarterback going into 2019. It’s time to see what he can really do and open that playbook up for him.
