With the Washington Redskins now out of the playoff mix, do they have the ability to close out the season strong with a win and get to .500 on the year?

After a hard fought, but crushing loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 16, the ‘Skins have been eliminated from the playoffs heading into Week 17. While some fans may now be looking at this as a game with no importance because there are no longer playoff implications to it, every game in the NFL has meaning.

There will also be some fans who now want to lose this game for a better pick in the draft. The players shouldn’t be tanking in this game though, as it will show up on the coaches film if they do. For some players, this is a chance to showcase their abilities for a roster spot next year as this will be their last game with the Redskins.

The Eagles are still right in the mix for a playoff spot, so they will be coming into this game ready to play. They embarrassed the Redskins on Monday Night Football last time, so Washington cannot come out flat again this game or it will happen again. As bitter of a rivalry as this is, this game is the perfect opportunity to crush the Eagles’ playoff aspirations and end the season on a high note. If Redskins want to finish the season 8-8, here are five keys to victory in their week 17 rematch.
