No. 5 – Adonis Alexander

The Redskins depth has been routinely tested over the past few years, in several different areas. Late in the 2018 season, it’s their secondary depth that’s now put in question, as players drop onto injured reserve left and right.

Two days ago, it was Joshua Holsey who was put on the season-ending list, and yesterday, undrafted rookie Danny Johnson joined Holsey and Quinton Dunbar in the ranks. In the past two days, Washington has signed two street free agents to cover for their losses. But that alone won’t do it. Certain players will have to step up into bigger roles.

Adonis Alexander could very well be one of those players. The rookie out of Virginia Tech has been on the roster all season, but he hasn’t seen much action up to this point; other rookies such as the aforementioned Johnson and Alexander’s college teammate, Greg Stroman, have taken the brunt of the reserve snaps.

That could soon change, however, as Alexander is now the fourth best option, behind Josh Norman, Fabian Moreau, and Stroman. With the way the Redskins have been cycling through defensive backs, Alexander will surely get his chance, and soon. His rise to the spotlight comes at a very crucial time in the 2018 season.
