Redskins vs. Jaguars: 5 players to watch in Week 15
By Ian Cummings
No. 3 – TE Jeremy Sprinkle
The Redskins may have lost Jordan Reed for the rest of the 2018 season last week, as the tight end suffered a setback on his surgically repaired toe.
While injuries to star players, in late-season stretches for potential playoff teams, are never ideal, the ailment could end up being a blessing. Now, the Redskins will be forced to evaluate younger players, and they’ll get more information on whether Reed is worth keeping around, with his sizable cap number, which has since been disproportional to his consistency.
One player who will factor heavily into the Washington Redskins future plans is former fifth-round pick Jeremy Sprinkle.
Sprinkle, 6-foot-5, has the height and receiving potential to be a cheap, cost-effective solution for the Redskins at tight end for at least two more years. With Reed only growing older, and with his injuries failing to desist, Sprinkle, who hasn’t yet logged a catch this season, could see an uptick in action very quickly. It will be interesting to see what he does with it.
