Yes, the Redskins signed Kyle Fuller. No, not THAT Kyle Fuller!

The Redskins continue to shuffle around their offensive line. At this point, it honestly doesn’t matter what the team does at the position. They’re adding depth just to have bodies out on the field. They’re not realistically going to find a game-changer to come and in fix things to end the season.

That said, the team did make a transaction on Tuesday on the offensive line. According to the team’s official site, they waived center Demetrius Rhaney and added offensive guard Kyle Fuller to the roster. And for those that are wondering why Fuller’s name is familiar, you may be thinking of the starting cornerback on the Bears. You know, Kendall Fuller’s brother?

This is not the same Kyle Fuller.

This Kyle Fuller was a seventh-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2017. He was an interior lineman at Baylor and was considered a potential backup center/guard for the NFL. He only lasted for nine games in Houston and has been on the practice squad for most of this season.

Fuller represents some potential upside for the Redskins. He was recently a draft pick, after all. At the same time, it’s fair to assume that he’s just going to be a body at this point. They need depth, and he’s available. Also, it’s notable that the Texans have one of the league’s worst offensive lines. So, if Fuller couldn’t make that roster this year, he might not really have a lot of long-term upside left.

There’s nothing to be excited about or disappointed about here. Rhaney wasn’t doing anything as in his role as a depth option on the line. Fuller has some upside, and at least he hasn’t spent time on the team’s roster. Rhaney had a whole offseason to prove himself in Washington and was likely only really re-signed as emergency depth since he knew the system.

We’ll see if Fuller does anything. For now, he’s just another name to note.
