2. OL Luke Bowanko

Bowanko seems to be in line to start for the Redskins on the interior line. And unlike his teammate Nsekhe, we don’t exactly know what to expect from him.

Bowanko has started 15 games in his career, but most of that action came back in 2014. Since that time, he has been a backup for Jacksonville and Baltimore and has played sparingly in that action.

With the injuries to Jonathan Cooper and Tony Bergstrom, it’s unclear where Bowanko will play. He may see action on the left side of the offensive line, or he may move to right guard. If the team does elect to play Ty Nsekhe at guard, it may be better to use him on the left side. That could push Bowanko to the right side, so that will be something interesting to watch.

No matter what, the offensive line play is going to be critical for the Redskins against the Giants. If the interior can’t hold up, the team’s run game could struggle. And that would be a nightmare for the Redskins, as they would have to solely rely on the pass game to carry them.

Bowanko needs to be able to at least hold up on Sunday. We’re not expect a ton out of the team’s fifth-string guard, but if he can at least stalemate his opponents, that will do a lot to allow Adrian Peterson and Mark Sanchez to do their thing against the Giants.
