5. RB Chris Thompson

Thompson made his return to action last week after missing time with injured ribs. Though he was on the field, he didn’t see a lot of action.

Expect that to change in Week 14.

With a new quarterback in tow, the Redskins are going to have to rethink their offense. They may need to utilize the short game a little bit more, and that could mean either more screens to Thompson or more quick passes. Either way, if the team is looking to get yardage, they will have to get the ball to their explosive playmakers in space.

Thompson is one of the quickest, most elusive players on the ‘Skins. Sure, he’s a bit undersized and that has caused him to have injury issues at different points during his career, but when he’s in space, he is truly dynamic. If the Redskins can isolate Thompson against some of the Giants linebackers, Thompson should be able to win and get some yardage on short routes. The real question is whether or not the team’s offensive line and quarterback will be able to hold up and get the ball to him.

Of course, Adrian Peterson is still going to see a bulk of the carries against the Giants. But at the same time, the ‘Skins have to look to get Thompson more involved. His six touches last week weren’t nearly enough, so they have to look to get him the ball in the passing game early and often.
