The Indianapolis Colts waived Denzelle Good on Saturday. The Washington Redskins could consider adding him as extra offensive line depth.

The last month of the season is going to see the Washington Redskins try to stay alive in what’s turning out to be a very competitive NFC East. In order to do that, the Redskins are going to have to make sure they have enough depth across their roster. The team has dealt with key injury issues particularly on offense, and they have been shuffling different players onto the roster as a result.

One position that has seen a particularly high rate of turnover has been the offensive line. After season-ending injuries to Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao, plus Trent Williams‘ extended absence, the team brought on a bunch of veterans to serve as depth for them. The patchwork unit has been fine, but the team will certainly look to add extra talent if they see an opportunity to do so.

And that opportunity may exist in the near future. The Colts just recently waived Denzelle Good, and the ‘Skins could end up having some interest in the former Indy right tackle.

More from Riggo's Rag

Good has appeared in 27 games over the course of four NFL seasons, and he saw action as a starter in 21 of them. He served as the starting right tackle early in the season for the Colts, but he hasn’t played since Oct. 2 following the death of his brother. Still, he has remained with the team and when on the field, he has been a decent backup option.

The ‘Skins currently don’t have much depth on their offensive line at tackle. With Williams and Morgan Moses proving to be banged-up, Ty Nsekhe and Austin Howard have served as the primary backups. While being four-deep at the position is good, the team could still stand to add some depth to the line, as their interior line depth isn’t that strong.

Good could help to fix that issue, as his presence at tackle would allow Howard or Nsekhe to kick inside to guard if needed. Or, Good himself could play guard if necessary as well. He has played both right guard and tackle during his career, so he is a versatile player. At the very least, Good could add some depth to the squad, so that would be a positive.

The Redskins have already dipped into the Colts’ offensive line depth before this season by signing Howard. Good would be another sensible addition. The team should have a roster spot open, as they haven’t properly replaced Cassanova McKinzy who was placed on IR. His spot went to Reuben Foster, but Foster is now on the Commissioner’s exempt list. So, that should leave one spot open and Good could take it.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the Redskins roster moves in the coming weeks, but Good would be a sensible add if they can land him on waivers. So, don’t be surprised if that’s the route the team takes in the near future.
