The Texans may well be the best team left on the Redskins’ schedule, and their trip to Washington certainly has major playoff implications for both teams, but the game is being overshadowed by talk of fan loyalty.

As usual, the game on Sunday carries countless interesting storylines. A clash of 6-3 division leaders was not what most pictured when they saw this game on the schedule at the beginning of the season.

Will the Redskins have answers for J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, Deshaun Watson, and DeAndre Hopkins? Will Alex Smith and Company be able to muster enough points to stay competitive against the Titans’ prolific offense? Will the Redskins take a further stranglehold on the NFC East by winning the only remaining game on their schedule against an opponent with a winning record?

All of those storylines are fascinating. However, since Josh Norman and D.J. Swearinger called out fans after the win last week in Tampa Bay, talking about how they’d rather play away games because of how bad the atmosphere is at FedEx Field, that is the dominant storyline this week. Those comments have sparked fascinating debates, so I’ll include the topic in this week’s version of Redskins reality checks.
