The Washington Redskins will be without Jamison Crowder for yet another week as the slot receiver is still dealing with an ankle injury.

Jamison Crowder hasn’t played since Week 4 of the NFL season. And once again, it appears that he is going to miss time as he deals with an ankle injury.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Crowder is out for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Crowder had previously been listed as questionable in the team’s Week 10 injury report, but he was truly a game-time decision. Now, it’s pretty much confirmed that he will miss a fifth-straight game.

Crowder’s absence hasn’t had a major impact on the Redskins so far this season. Sure, it would be nice to have the playmaker from the slot on the field, but Alex Smith has mostly been targeting tight ends and running backs this season. Still, Crowder would add a potential deep threat and a bit more speed to the offense, so getting him back would be nice.

While Crowder is out, Maurice Harris figures to see the biggest boost in targets. He did well last week, catching 10 passes for 124 yards, and he can play both in the slot and outside. That versatility will make him valuable, and it’s clear that Alex Smith likes throwing to him.

It seems possible — if not, probable — that Crowder will be back in action Week 11. He finally started to make progress in his return this week, so with another week or so of rest, that could be enough to get him back on the field. If that happens, both Crowder and Trey Quinn will likely return at the same time. And the addition of those weapons could help the offense to add some extra firepower.

For now, Crowder’s absence doesn’t have a major impact. After all, the Bucs have struggled against receivers all year, so the team’s depth options can get the job done for one more week. Still, the fact that he should return soon is good news for Redskins fans, and they can start looking forward to seeing him back on the field.
