The Washington Redskins put forth a rough performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9. They played very poorly and that was partially thanks to some dud performances by key players.

If you asked any Redskins fan if they would take a 5-3 record at the midpoint of the season, many would happily take it. But the fact of the matter is that this record is currently a disappointment based on how the ‘Skins have played in recent weeks. Ahead of Week 9, it seemed that this squad was ready to turn a corner. However, they were not.

The Redskins lost to the Falcons at home in Week 9 by a score of 38-14. The defense completely fell apart after playing at an elite level in the previous three weeks. On offense, the team couldn’t get anything going on the ground, and that limited what they were able to do throughout the contest. But frankly, the performance of the defense would have made it extremely difficult for the offense to keep pace even if they ran the ball well.

At the end of the day, the Redskins are still in first place. They still have a winning record, and they have a winnable matchup on deck against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There’s still more than enough time for the team to build on their divisional lead, but this loss certainly was a blow to a team that had been trending up as a physical, defensive-minded squad.

The performance of the squad was definitely a team effort. And honestly, you could list virtually any player or position group on the team as a dud this week, and I wouldn’t have a problem with it. That said, here’s a look at my three biggest dud performers from the Redskins Week 9 loss to the Falcons.
