No. 3 – S D.J. Swearinger

The Redskins have a Head Marshal. And he’s tearing up the league.

Over the years, the Redskins became almost infamous for their unsavory free agent signings at safety. David Archuleta, Ryan Clark, David Bruton, Donte Whitner. The list goes on and on.

D.J. Swearinger was a different sight when he came to D.C. He was young, coming off his rookie contract. He was coming off a career year in which he logged three interceptions for the Arizona Cardinals. And he was hungry.

Right away, Swearinger became a leader for Washington’s defense, and now, a year and a half later, his leadership has evolved into not just an alpha mentality, but a quality of play that backs up his confidence.

On Sunday against the Giants, Swearinger notched two interceptions off of Eli Manning, doubling his total for 2018 and matching his total for 2017. Swearinger now has four interceptions, and there are still nine games left to play in the 2018 season. If you want to play the ‘on pace’ game, well… he’s on pace for eight.

For all that eating, Swearinger will need two spoons.
