Redskins Spotlight: DB Quinton Dunbar’s growth, impact in 2018
By Kyle Hundley
This season
All of Dunbar’s positive traits were on full display when he started Week 1 in Arizona, playing future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald tough and even making an interception on errant Sam Bradford throw. There were also a couple of pass breakups as well where he displayed that great closing speed and necessary ball skills.
This strong play continued in Week 2 as he had another great game against the Colts and again against the Packers the next week. The entire secondary had a down game against the Saints, but this an opportunity for him to display his mental toughness and bounce back with a strong performance after a bad game.
The rapid growth of Dunbar has been on display from Week1 and has allowed him to develop this year into the quality cornerback that the Redskins have desperately needed to go with Josh Norman; he has even outperformed the highly paid Norman through the first quarter of the season.
If Dunbar continues this development the rest of this season in the manner that he has through the start of it, the Redskins have just found another young building block for what should be a strong defense for years to come.
