Redskins Injury Report: Numerous key offensive players questionable for Week 6
The Washington Redskins have a lengthy injury report heading into the Week 6 clash with the Panthers, and their offense is particularly banged up ahead of the contest.
It’s possible that the Redskins could be without as many as six key offensive players for their Week 6 matchup with the Panthers. Of course, nothing is guaranteed yet, but the offensive arsenal is looking thin, and the depth issues at receiver and running back could be exposed as a result.
This week, the team’s top three receivers — Jamison Crowder, Paul Richardson, and Josh Doctson — have all been dealing with various maladies that put them in question for this week’s game. Right now, it seems that Doctson may have the best chance to play, but his nagging heel injury could make it difficult for him to suit up. And even if he does play, he may not be 100 percent.
As for Crowder and Richardson, they may truly be game-time decisions. Considering that both missed Thursday’s practice on a short week, their statuses will bear watching moving forward.

In the event that any of the receivers can’t go, Maurice Harris would be the next man up. Harris hasn’t done a lot this season, as he missed time early with a concussion, but he has some playmaking potential and a good catch radius. Other options at the position include Michael Floyd and Brian Quick, but receiver is definitely one of the thinner positions on the Redskins roster. So, hopefully, one of Crowder or Richardson can play.
At running back, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson are both also listed as questionable. They both seem to be trending in the right direction in terms of being able to play, and Peterson has said that he will play through the shoulder and knee ailments that are bothering him. Thompson has been limited in practice, so it appears that he will play as well.
If either player suffers a setback and does have to miss time, Kapri Bibbs would be the next man up in the backfield. Bibbs is more of a change of pace back, so he would be better served to fill in the Thompson role. If Peterson needs a game off at some point, Samaje Perine should step into the lineup, and he could have a real chance to prove himself, as he is a solid runner who finds himself in the doghouse due to preseason fumbling issues.
Elsewhere across the roster, safety Troy Apke (hamstring) is out while left guard Shawn Lauvao (calf) is doubtful. Both have missed time this season, and it won’t have much of an impact on the roster. Apke’s special teams spot will be held down by Kenny Ladler while Tony Bergstrom will continue to start at center with Chase Roullier playing left guard as long as Lauvao is out.
The Redskins have to be worried about their injury report this week. In the event that any of their offensive weapons are out, they might have trouble moving the ball on the Panthers. We’ll keep monitoring their respective statuses and will be sure to let you know who the inactives are on game day.
