There were already some signs that Paul Richardson was on the right track to becoming one of Alex Smith’s preferred weapons at the receiver position. Through three games, Richardson had the most targets of any player at the wide receiver position with 14. And moving forward, that number should continue to increase.

Smith likes to target Richardson, and he hit him for a deep-ball touchdown in the last game the two played against the Packers. Richardson was brought to Washington to serve as a speed threat and use his body control to make difficult catches. And on that 46-yard catch, that’s exactly what he needed to do.

With three weeks under his belt and a week more of gaining chemistry with his teammates, Richardson seems poised to become a bigger part of the Redskins offense. He will probably continue to see a solid target share, and he will continue to be the primary deep threat in the offense too. And that will afford him the opportunity to make some big plays and score frequently.

It just feels like Richardson is going to start going off, especially against the Saints and their poor secondary. Expect him to put up some solid numbers in Week 5 and create some momentum for the “second half” of the ‘Skins season.
