Paul Richardson: Sit

Paul Richardson enters Week 3 sitting third on the team in receptions with eight, totaling 85 yards in that time. It has been reported that Richardson is dealing with a banged up shoulder this week as he did in last weeks game. Richardson also has 12 targets despite playing 86 percent of the teams offensive snaps, which is not good for fantasy owners.

As mentioned earlier, Smith doesn’t look to go outside very often. Richardson may even see his snap share decrease with the return of Mo Harris to the lineup from a concision he sustained in the preseason. Somewhat of an early disappointment, Richardson will have to ride out the slump until his chemistry with Smith increases, or until Smith finds a way to connect with his wideouts more often. At this point in 10 team leagues, Richardson isn’t roster-worthy.

Jamison Crowder: Risk Start

More from Commanders News

His first two performances don’t scream must start, but Crowder could be in line for a big day. Smith has been very reliant on his running backs through two weeks and not on the teams top receivers, Crowder and Jordan Reed, which will almost be Green Bay’s goal to stop. The Packers allow just under 300 yards through the air per game and not all of that isn’t coming from Thompson.

Crowder has been a mainstay of Jay Gruden’s offense since he arrived in Washington. The team will look to get back to their roots that had it place top-12 in passing offense every year under Gruden, and Crowder will be one of the main beneficiaries of that. Expect Crowder to get his targets this week against a weak pass defense and could end up getting back to his old ways in Week 3.

Davante Adams: Start

Adams has solidified himself as a true number one wideout in this league and he has a solid matchup ahead of him. Josh Norman has struggled the past two seasons in coverage and has allowed 14 yards per catch this season, per player profiler. While Norman has not let up a touchdown this season, Aaron Rodgers is a different animal.

Adams managed eight receptions for 64 yards and a score in last Sunday’s tie against Xavier Rhodes and the Vikings. Assuming he draws only the attention of Norman on Sunday, Adams should have another productive day receiving wise. He may not get you a score, but he should have a decent number of receptions and yardage.

Randall Cobb:  Sit

Cobb had a great Week 1 against a Bears defense that surrendered nine receptions for 142 yards and a score to the slot receiver. However, according to Micheal Fabiano, the Redskins are allowing a measly 50 .7 passer rating to opposing QBs when targeting the slot receiver. Second-year corner Fabian Moreau has obtained the role of slot corner for Washington and has only allowed 23 yards on five receptions through the Redskins first two games.

While Rodgers is a great QB and can throw his guys open, the lack of pass rush Washington provides combined with the struggles of Norman and lack of experience from Dunbar, Rodgers will most likely be looking downfield opposed to underneath. If you have no other options Cobb could be a gamble as a flex play, but he’s more of a low-ceiling and an even lower floor in this week’s matchup.
