Redskins: Riggo’s Rag Podcast – From Week 1 to Week 2
By Ian Cummings
You know we couldn’t just skip the podcast after the Redskins Week 1 rout of the Arizona Cardinals.
The Washington Redskins demolished the Cardinals in every facet of the game last Sunday, winning the 2018 season opener by a score of 24-6.
The game was a pleasant surprise for fans who’d grown confident in the team’s abilities over the course of a productive offseason, and it was an equally jarring surprise for pundits and media observers who overlooked the Redskins for much of the summer months.
Even after Washington’s defeat of the birds of the desert, however, many are still unconvinced. It’s hard to blame them; the Cardinals have talent, but across the board, they are one of the more incomplete teams across the league. Their offensive line was shodden heading into the game, and the defense, although stocked with All-Pros like Patrick Peterson and Chandler Jones, was still learning the schemes of newly-anointed head coach Steve Wilks.
Jay Gruden’s first season opening win, behind the arm of Alex Smith, was impressive; the fifth-year head coach implemented a masterful offensive scheme, and the young defense showed growth beyond its average age. But only so much confidence can be earned in one week. The Redskins’ matchup with the Indianapolis Colts is the equivalent of a burning question.
Can they do it again?
The Riggo’s Rag Podcast is back, in an attempt to answer this question, as well as go over the Redskins’ victory against Arizona. The team gave us plenty to talk about, and the upcoming quarrel with Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts is equally intriguing. Have a listen by clicking the play button below!
If the Redskins win on Sunday, they’ll start out 2-0, guaranteeing themselves a winning record at the bye week, and giving themselves a chance to go 3-0. Momentum is a powerful thing in football, and Washington could have the makings of it after their Week 1 showing. As it goes with all things, time will yield the answer. But in the meantime, we have plenty to talk about.
