The Washington Redskins have a fairly deep roster this year and they are going to need to cut some talented players in order to pare their unit down to 53 men. Here’s a look at the top potential cut candidates.

In just about a week, the Redskins are going to be going through final cuts ahead of the 2018 NFL season. In past years, these days have been more of a formality than anything else. The team always has a couple of surprise cuts, but this year, their depth is better than ever. And that is making the roster even harder to figure out.

With a lot of talented players across the board including a crop of solid undrafted free agents, the Redskins are going to have some important decisions to make about who they want to keep. That will mean parting with some quality veterans who make up the valuable depth of their roster. It won’t necessarily be easy to part with them, but NFL front offices have to be ruthless when players are cut. It’s often better to get rid of a player a year too early than a year too late, as the old adage goes.

The Redskins may have some tough decisions on their hands, and that could spell some trouble for some fan favorites and quality depth pieces. While nothing is set in stone, these five players are certainly going to have a tough time making the Redskins roster as they battle it out for the final spots on the bubble.
