Winning in the preseason may not be important. But rest assured, the Washington Redskins are going to do everything they can to beat the Denver Broncos in the preseason finale.

Much is being made of the third week of the Washington Redskins preseason, and rightfully so. The third game of the preseason is often referred to as the “dress rehearsal” as most teams will give their starters about one half of play in order to get them ready for the regular season. This final tune-up can be absolutely critical to allowing the coaching staff to evaluate how the starters look and can give teams confidence heading into the regular season.

Against the Denver Broncos, the Redskins will get a solid test. The team has a fairly solid all-around team and they figure to be a good matchup for Washington as they get ready for Week 1. New quarterback Case Keenum should provide the Redskins defense with a competent quarterback who could perform similarly to Sam Bradford, who will be the Week 1 opponent for the Redskins. That, coupled with the tests the receivers and Denver pass rush will give them, should give Jay Gruden and Greg Manusky a look at their respective units.

The Redskins realistically should win this game, but there’s no knowing whether or not that will actually happen. Still, if they’re able to accomplish a few different things, they should head into the fourth preseason week with a record of 3-1. Here’s a look at the Redskins three keys to victory as they look to take down their AFC West foe.
