With Redskins training camp well underway, we’re starting to get an idea of what the final roster will look like after preseason.

Injuries in 2017 masked the depth that the Washington Redskins have slowly built over time. The mass influx of injuries would have made it hard for any team to respond positively, and the Redskins, still building up from rock bottom in 2014, could not compete down the stretch.

This season, however, the team has a clean slate, from a health standpoint, and in training camp, with nearly all ninety players readily available to take snaps, we’ve seen competition, we’ve seen crazy catches, and in time, we’ll have our questions answered.

For now, however, the roster is still in flux. Most of the team’s starting spots are locked up, but in the wings, plenty of spots are up for grabs, with as many as four candidates fighting for limited depth roles. Running back immediately comes to mind, where Byron Marshall, Samaje Perine, Robert Kelley, and Kapri Bibbs all find themselves battling for backup slots.

On one hand, it’s a good thing that the Redskins have this kind of depth. Competition will help the players get the best out of themselves, and the team will be better equipped to handle an injury apocalypse. But on the other hand, a number of tough decisions will need to be made by the end of preseason. Some talented players will not be afforded roster spots.

After taking a little break this past weekend, we’re back with the Riggo’s Rag Podcast. Although Nathan Britton is away, Jacob Camenker and I managed to find time to sit down and discuss the Redskins’ roster bubble, starting on the offensive side of the ball. Click the link below and see how we feel about your favorite player!

Nothing is set in stone quite yet, but answers will soon be given where the Redskins don’t have them yet. Thanks for listening to our podcast, as always, and in the meantime, check back regularly for updates on Redskins training camp. The team has a break today, but tomorrow, they’ll start their final week before preseason. Football is almost back.
