Early in training camp, Fabian Moreau got a chance to prove himself. Orlando Scandrick had a maintenance day on the third day of camp, and it appears that he will continue to have some throughout the offseason. That should continue to benefit Moreau.

When Scandrick was out, Moreau saw action in the slot. The cornerback group had Josh Norman as the No. 1, Dunbar as the No. 2, and Moreau taking over Scandrick’s place in the slot. And if Moreau’s performance is any indication, it’s possible that he could keep that role long term.

Moreau consistently made plays in the slot, which isn’t a major surprise. He has great speed and solid tackling ability. If his cover instincts are up to stuff, he could be the perfect replacement for the departed Kendall Fuller.

Moreau was always bound to impress, but this early showing is certainly a positive for the UCLA product. He could really make the leap in his second year and be an impact player for the Redskins. He will definitely be a guy to watch in the preseason.
